The Latin name means food of the gods and the perfectly ripe fruits are very sweet with a complex flavor suggesting dates and apricots–until ripe they are astringent. The tree is quite attractive with a rich smokey yellow fall color and the tiny green flowers are fragrant. Seeds from our own trees. Zone 4.
