Fragrant Perennials
CREEPING WOOLY THYME
Thymus sp.
$2.50
I’m not exactly sure which species–or it could be a hybrid–this is, as it is a rather mixed up and mis-identified genus. But regardless of what you call it, this is one of my favorite thymes with its silvery-grey mounding foliage to 6 inches that is almost hidden in June by the rounded pink flower heads. At that time it is usually abuzz with honeybees. When the puppies were small, they liked to “nest" in it while waiting for me to come out of the greenhouse–it didn’t seem to do it any harm. Zone 5 at least.
