Fragrant Perennials
COMMON REST-HARROW
Ononis repens
$2.50
Though not apparently common in the U.S. , this is a delightful low creeping plant with resinous leaves that remind me of the Manaos Beauty and also Scented Agrimony. The name comes from the supposed ability of the roots of some species to stop the harrow in its tracks. Most species are woody and not very hardy, but this species is herbaceous and doing well here for quite a few years. The small pea-shaped rose flowers are borne all summer. Seed rather difficult to collect.
