Fragrant Annuals
LAVENDER LANTANA
Lantana trifolia
$2.50
A rarely grown species of Lantana that should be used more for its delightful rosy lavender flowers that just keep coming all summer long, its attraction to butterflies and the elongated cones of metalic lilac fruits that begin in midsummer and remain on the bush for a considerable time and compliment the flowers. Unlike most lantanas, the flowers are of a single color on a compact bush of less than two feet. The fruits remind one of the beauty-berry bush, Callicarpa, with their uncommon color. Some don’t care for the pungent smell of the foliage (so don’t pinch it) but I enjoy it. I also like that of the tomato, marigold, geranium and karapincha which is similar to the leaf of the buffalo gourd and a couple of the Viburnums.
