An ancestor of many light yellow and fragrant daylilies, this species is well worth growing on its own merits. Good for those who commute to work, it is a night bloomer opening in early evening and lasting until noon of the following day. The large, abundant, soft yellow blooms with lemony fragrance are borne over a long period on stems to six feet in this variety—‘Vespertina’. Hailing from China, it is a very hardy plant–zone 2-3. HP, six seeds.
